Hello and welcome to muMEcations.
muMEcations is an Australian not-for-profit organisation on a mission to encourage women to prioritise self-care and nurture their mental health and wellbeing by taking time out from Mum-duties to escape for a weekend of rest, relaxation and pampering.
Our retreats provide a relaxing and nurturing environment where women can take time away from their caring and domestic responsibilities to connect with likeminded women and enjoy restful sleep, dining out and pampering.
muMEcations was founded in January 2019 and restructured to a not-for-profit organisation in March 2021. As a not-for-profit organisation, our purpose is to:
- Provide funded opportunities for Mothers experiencing social, health and community disadvantage to take time away from their caring and domestic responsibilities to focus on and improve their mental health and wellbeing;
- Improve the wellbeing of Mothers experiencing poor mental, emotional and physical health related to caring for a child with disability, social isolation, medical illness, domestic violence or substance abuse;
- Promote social and community connection by providing opportunities for Mothers to connect and form meaningful relationships with likeminded women experiencing the same challenges; and
- Provide a relaxing environment for Mothers to rest and rejuvenate, enjoy pampering sessions and participate in educational activities designed to help women develop strategies to prevent and manage stress.
About our Project
The last 18 months have been extremely difficult, particularly for Victorian women navigating working from home and remote learning during five lockdowns. We have planned a 2-night Geelong muMEcation from Friday the 5th to Sunday the 7th of November and would love to offer funded places on this retreat to some Victorian Mums experiencing disadvantage and in desperate need of a break.
We have set out stretch goal to fund 12 women, however can run the retreat for 6 Mums and would be grateful for any contributions towards funding these places. Funding will specifically be used to pay for the retreat; that 2 nights accommodation, meals, welcome drinks and nibbles, transport to Torquay, a massage and some Mum-only gifts to take home. For all funded places, attendees will be encouraged to donate $50 towards their weekend which will go towards funding another Mum.
If we receive funding beyond these levels, we will provide further funded opportunities for women around Australia to attend a muMEcations retreat in 2022. We are feeling positive for travel in 2022 and have planned an exciting calendar including retreats to:
- Fremantle, WA
- Sanctuary Cove, QLD
- Kingscliff, NSW
- Hobart, TAS
- Magnetic Island, QLD
plus many more to come, Covid permitting!
A little bit about Founder our Founder, Alison
Mum of two young daughters Aidee and Macie, Alison launched muMEcations in January 2019 after 20 years’ experience in retail and corporate travel, including a year in the Middle East leading overland tours for Intrepid Travel, and Community Services managing a Respite and Tours program for young adults with disability.

An example of the itinerary for our upcoming Kingscliff muMEcation in March 2022:
Friday
After making your way to Kingscliff and checking in to Peppers Salt Resort & Spa, we’ll meet for drinks and nobbles on the gorgeous beach before enjoying dinner out and a relaxing night.
Saturday and Sunday
After a peaceful sleep, you’ll enjoy two relaxed and free days starting both days with a leisurely breakfast at the resort.
Over the weekend you’ll be pampered with a 2-hour customised spa session at Exhale @ Salt, High Tea at the Salt Village French Patisserie and enjoy plenty of free time to wander along the beach, get active with some water sports or relax with a book by the pool.
Saturday night is free to explore the local restaurants or perhaps stay in and relax with a movie and in-room dining.
Sunday night will be another relaxing dinner at a local restaurant.
Monday
Today will be another relaxing day with breakfast at your leisure before checking out of the resort and enjoying a free day before heading home.
