About Us

We’re a female-run Melbourne based start-up born from plant lovers in the depth of our long Victorian lockdown – the Wylde app!

The Problem

These days, many of us are looking to second hand and local goods to help minimise our impact on the planet, from cars, to clothing, to furniture – so why not plants?

Plants are important for us all. Whether for their utility or simply as a way to brighten up our homes and keep us in touch with the natural world – studies show that plants offer mental health benefits. The presence of plants helps us feel more calm and relaxed, thus decreasing levels of anxiety, while nurturing and caring for our plants can also reduce stress levels and boost mood.

With this in mind, the plant industry is in need of a digital upgrade and a destination from which to easily access plants at the touch of a button, or browse from anywhere, on the go.

The Solution

Enter Wylde! We make it easy for anyone selling houseplants, pots and plant accessories to create an online presence for themselves in the Wylde marketplace, spreading the love with ‘second-hand plants’. Just download the app, create an account and start snapping pictures!

Or maybe your Monstera has grown too large for your lounge? Perhaps you’re sick of that fussy Calathea? Wylde makes it easy for people looking to fill that plant-shaped hole with (even more) plants! We love being spoilt for choice.

Explore listings within a radius of your location, or search Australia wide and receive some exciting plant mail. Unlike other plant shopping avenues like Facebook Marketplace, we offer buyer and seller protection, in-app transactions powered by Stripe and customer service through our website, email and Instagram page.

Wylde isn’t just house plants – our goal is to encourage sustainability practises through the promotion of home grown vegetables, fruits and native plants. We’re also looking to put the plant power back into the hands of communities, and away from large-scale plant nurseries.

The Plan + Traction So Far

Wylde’s beta app launched in April 2021. Over the 8 months that the app was available on the app store, Wylde:

• Was downloaded 7,000+ times
• Made the Apple Australia top 200 apps list 4 times
• Had a 4.6 rating on the App Store with 30+ reviews
• Over 1,000 listings

These last few months, we’ve been hard at work developing a completely new, redesigned app for our official launch in a few months!

Founder Traction

Our team has been selected for and participated in the following:

• SBE Australia Evolve Program (Women In Tech Scholarship Recipient)
• Blackbird Giants Program
• Inspiring Rare Birds – InvestHer Program

The Goals

We are looking to raise funding to assist in our re-launch campaign. A successful fund raise will mean that we can do some or all of the following:

• Make additional improvements and expand app features
• Hire additional customer service representatives to manage increased interest in the app
• Expand our Marketing campaign reach so we can spread the Wylde word!
• Invest in part-time Legal assistance (vital for any budding start-up – if you’ll pardon the pun!)
• Sponsor local sustainability projects that align with Wylde’s brand values and message
