Overview
Consent Labs is a collective of young people who are passionate about educating and promoting an informed conversation around sexual health and consent. Consent Labs’ long term goal is to empower young people to have respectful relationships, with the aim of decreasing the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault. Currently, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 20 men will experience sexual violence (ABS, 2017).Â
Consent Labs has developed a program of youth-led workshops to provide education around consent and its intersections such as sexual health, alcohol and drugs, harassment and assault, peer pressure and technology.Â
Consent Labs’ program:
🌟Is realistic, relevant and practical, having been shaped by the experiences of young people themselves. The program is underpinned by inclusivity and intersectionality which is a perspective not adequately addressed by existing curriculum.
🌟Takes a harm minimisation stance – education is protective, allowing young people to make informed choices.Â
🌟Is evidence led and industry reviewed. The team continually liaises with professionals in the legal, medical, drug and alcohol and education sectors to develop content.
Central to Consent Lab’s approach is bespoke education programs inclusive of all sexualities, genders, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and religious beliefs. By removing the stigma around sexual health and encouraging a safe environment for inclusive, judgement-free discussion, Consent Labs contributes to a wider goal of decreasing the prevalence of sexual harassment and assault in Australia.Â
Throughout the current calendar year, Consent Labs will reach over 10,000 high school and tertiary students across Australia, including in Greater Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Darwin and regional Victoria. Results from the program are overwhelmingly positive, with 91% of students stating they would want Consent Labs to return and 88% saying that they had learnt something practical that they could incorporate into their lives.
Rewards
Provide a young person with consent education - $25.00
The sex education that students receive in high school, focuses on safe, rather than consensual sex. Crucially, Australian curricula lack substantial content on consensual sexual relationships, the role of consent and how to report sexual assault or abuse. Consent Labs fills this gap, providing consent education to high school and tertiary students. Help contribute by sending one young person to an engaging and informative workshop on consent and respectful relationships.Â
Subsidise the cost of a Recognising and Responding to Sexual Harassment and Assault program for a class of young people - $100
Provide subsidised consent education to students in regional and rural NSW - $300

Help support Consent Labs’ mission to remove the stigma around sexual health and consent- $100000.00
Help support Consent Labs’ mission to remove the stigma around sexual health and consent, and empower young people with the information and resources to engage in healthy and respectful relationships. Consent Labs speaks to thousands of young Australians aged 12 to 25 on the topics of sex and consent, driving cultural shift with how these areas are understood and navigated by young people. Consent Labs currently speaks to approximately 10,000 students per year and also works tirelessly to grow its educational digital social media platform. Regular production of digital resources, particularly on its Instagram and blog, ensures Consent Labs fosters an environment for young people and all sectors of the community to engage in evidence-led and diversity considerate resources to drive ongoing learning.Â
Consent Labs also advocates heavily for the rights of all young people to have access to mandatory and standardised consent education in the school curriculum, which is relevant and inclusive. Furthermore, through its exciting and upcoming regional and rural outreach program in 2022, Consent Labs will extend its reach to areas of great need across NSW, ensuring that consent education is not limited by geographic location.
Your donation, however large or small, will help educate and empower more young people, creating a ripple effect through the community as you join in on Consent Labs changing the script of current sex education.Â
