We know, through and through, how life-changing a support network can be for female entrepreneurs. As women in the male-dominated business world, there are unique strengths and opportunities that we can leverage to maximise our chances of success, such as the ability to build relationships based on empathy.

We also have different emotional needs and logistical challenges, such as balancing motherhood and work, that can often only be understood by other females who have had similar experiences.

This is why at Lift Women, we create resources and events for our Lift Angels™ community to facilitate women networking in a warm, friendly and knowledgeable environment. Our events span online meet-and-greets and masterclasses and in-person forums and functions.

First, what is Lift Angels™?

Lift Angels™ is our shared-value community of founders and backers who are passionate about inspiring, elevating and funding female entrepreneurs.

50% of annual membership fees are reinvested back into this mission via our Pay-It-Forward Fund which is distributed as additional funding for live crowdfunding projects on the Lift Women platform. By reinvesting profits, we propel a circular funding ecosystem to support female entrepreneurship.

Our Lift Angels™ members benefit from:

  • access to synergistic relationships including with potential mentors and investors
  • valuable opportunities to increase the exposure and visibility of their businesses
  • exclusive access to resources and women networking events.

And here are 3 reasons why you should join us at our next women networking event!

The emotional support and skill development that arises from a group of likeminded women networking is unmatched!

Many studies have shown that women put off their entrepreneurial dreams due to a fear of failure and unfavourable social perceptions.

These barriers can be overcome by partaking in a female business group where you have the support of women who you can relate to and who can rally for you. Just reading success stories of other female founders can also increase your confidence. What can also increase your confidence is taking part in the upskilling opportunities that some business groups offer.

At Lift Women, our Lift Angels™ women networking events and masterclasses help women sharpen their business or personal skills, such as pitching, marketing and well-being, to empower them to start or scale their businesses.

For emotional support, a recent report from the Treasury found that 1 in 5 small business owners prefer to take advice from only those who can personally relate to their issues, rather than just family and friends.

It’s in female business groups that you can find fellow founders who are also juggling motherhood and work, finding childcare challenging or needing advice on holding your ground amidst gender bias. Discussions like these can be personal and emotionally charged and being able to discuss them in a safe, secure space is essential for learning, growth and mental health; this is what our women networking events provide.

Our women networking events are often rife with collaboration opportunities.

It’s been discovered that women in business prioritise high-quality relationships and mutual assistance – perhaps that’s why collaboration opportunities are so rife in female business groups!

At Lift Women, we’ve connected over 3,000 female entrepreneurs spanning different countries, industries, business stages and roles. In our Community Hub, every Lift Angels™ member has the opportunity to list an ask and give – something they want assistance with and something they can give advice or help with. You might find a fellow Lift Angel who is a professional in their field and offering something you need like bookkeeping or digital marketing advice.

There are many other ways outside of Lift Angels™ to find high-quality relationships and mutual assistance too. It can be as simple as joining a Facebook group for copywriters in order to find jobs, find another writer to partner with on a big project and be inspired by what others are working on. It can be as involved as joining a coworking space designated for industries like tech entrepreneurs or digital creatives.

You can leverage the connections created at our women networking events to find funding for your business.

A 2019 study found that females are 63% less likely than males to secure risk capital financing and although there are programs and grants specifically for women like the Australian Government’s “Boosting Female Founders” grant, they may not be appropriate or accessible. This is where women networking events and communities can step in to facilitate crowdfunding or provide connections for investors and such.

Our Lift Angels™ network is a community of backers and founders who are passionate about uplifting women in business. We might not be able to fully fund a project on our own, but we believe in the sum of small actions and have seen over 100 projects being fully funded from a large number of small pledges – these projects have been to both start and scale female-led businesses.

Although we have seen a significant rise in the number of women in entrepreneurship, it’s stated that it will take another 108 years to completely close the gender gap. We think this is too long to wait to have equal opportunity for women to realise their business dreams and potential.

We encourage you to explore Lift Angels™, browse Facebook groups and in-person meet ups and join business groups and coworking spaces to not only receive the support you need and give back to other female founders, but to essentially do your part in closing this gap.

Together, we can harness the power of community to lift, inspire, fund and trust women in entrepreneurship.
