Overview
Did you know that only 3% of venture capital funding went to women-led start-ups in Australia in 2022?
For private sector funding, only 0.7% of the total capital raised was accessed by women despite women making up 22% of start-up founders.
What is further shocking is the fact that in 2021, a record-breaking $10 billion of venture capital funding was raised in Australia, but Black women/Women of Colour accessed only 0.03%.
If we are sincere about cracking the code, and embracing equity, then this is not acceptable.
Hence, our support for iSTEM Co., whose mission is to enable the employment of women in STEM including women of colour and women from CALD as research shows that there are only 29% of women working in STEM with 56% of STEM-qualified women being Australian women born overseas but facing over four times unemployment.
iSTEM Co. has launched its latest project DIER–the innovative Recruit-Tech platform for women in STEM that eliminates recruitment bias via anonymous recruitment, job benchmarking, standardise interviews and mentoring retention program.
As part of the book launch for ‘Is This The End of Agility by Susan Abishara’, Susan has decided to raise $2000 to support iSTEM Co.’s project DEIR. So, for as little as $40, you can be part of the change to promote gender equity in STEM. Let’s break the bias together, crack the code and embrace equity for all.
