Overview

Our idea is to not using any unnecessary fragrance with will cut the hormone bonds between bub and parents ( baby smells milk before seeing the nipple), no essential oils which its use bring the controversy for pregnant women and newborns, very tolerable ingredients for all skin type (no nuts oil for example), transparency regarding our ingredients, and mixing the French recipe of the liniment and cultural skincare to the Australian native flora. All the products could be used during any situation: at home, traveling in the nappy bag…

We also strive to bring a community together, and throughout our products introduce a doula experience and a sustainable living through curated eco-friendly packaging, organic and sustainable material (wipes), and refillable pouches.

Who are we and what does Pépin mean?

We are Pauline and Célia, originally from France, met in Melbourne a few years ago. Pauline, an autodidact pastry chef, built her first business of French pastries called Gavé. From friendship, a work relationship emerged and Célia was on board as online content manager. Unfortunately , Célia had to move back to France but the friendship and work relationship got stronger. Pépin appeared while Pauline got pregnant and wanted to step away from the full on hands on pastry business. She started to create Liniment as baby shower presents for her friends, and with a new baby on the way , developed a bigger interest for baby skincare and what should or should not be in it.  Pauline  pushed her interest in pregnancy and postpartum and did her Doula certification. Throughout the brand, there is a desire to reach out to other mothers, isolated because of Covid or not.

The word Pépin means “seed”, but to be exact the small fruit ones in apples, grapes, citrus… The name appeared because that was Pauline’s baby’s name in the womb. It is a very meaningful and special name for us.

Our current range:

-Liniment : consists of just five ingredients: water, cold-pressed olive oil to cleanse, nourish and protect, a natural emulsifier, limewater to counteract the acidity of urine and stools, and beeswax to soften and nourish the skin.

This liniment is perfect for washing babies’ bottoms as it leaves a protective lipid coating to prevent redness and diaper rash. Use it for every diaper change and your baby’s delicate bottom will be protected from acidic urine and stools as well as from irritation due to the rubbing of diapers. The smooth texture leaves the skin clean and beautifully soft. Rinsing is not required.  Other use: eczema, cradle cap, nipple ointment, burns…

Cleansing Lotion: made with rose water, apricot kernel oil, emu apple, kakadu plum

Massaging Oil: apricot kernel oil

-Bundles with reusable wipes + washable bags for used one + bags for clean ones

-Baby shower/ Birth present / Travel Kit : smaller version, come with user guide illustrative cards (how to use liniment, how to massage baby, how to discard and wash wipes, …)
