Overview

Hello amazing change-makers!
I’m Elizabeth Clements, a new author and mum to 4 amazing humans! I am so excited to be here and have this opportunity to share my vision and dream for this project. It has been in my heart for a long time but has only now begun its journey into a tangible reality. I am inspired by the potential and possibility for good in those around me and I just know that with the help of others I can make this project incredible!
After giving birth to my beautiful son Jayden who was stillborn; a sleeping angel, I was in one of the darkest places I will ever know. I had to find a way out of this despairing pit and I wasn’t sure I could. I struggled to voice my needs, but eventually, I realized and decided healing had to come in my own time and in a safe space surrounded by those who would allow this process to develop.
After many years of healing and finding my way through the murky waters of grief and pregnancies after loss, I knew I wanted to help others along this challenging journey. I have shared Jayden’s story in a co-authored book and through this process have realized that a huge part of the healing we receive comes from sharing our stories and giving others a voice they may feel they have lost.
I remember at one point sitting with empty arms, thinking no one knew that I was a mum. If they couldn’t see my baby it was as if he never existed. There are flowers given and cards full of sympathies, which were all genuine and I felt cared for and I knew people were sad for my loss, but there was something missing. It was that I needed to be cared for. I needed someone to look after me in the aftermath of a loss, you are having to organize funeral services, flowers, be strong for people, and somehow your own wellbeing falls behind. A new mum still in the postpartum stages, with milk coming in, body changes, hormones all over the place and no baby to give all your beautiful mothering skills and love to.
This is where the Angel Mammas Gift Boxes come in. Of course, they can’t change the situation, but what they will do is wrap a mum in love, and care, showing her she is known, her baby is known, and she is held in that space.
I want every hospital to have these boxes available to them to give to any mum who needs this extra care. I want family members and friends to be able to go to the website and have a selection of beautifully curated gifts to give to someone they love whether they know what to say or not.
I have collaborated with beautiful businesses, keeping my values of sustainability, fair trade and ethical practices at heart. So these gifts are full of incredible, handmade, and organic items, as well as tote bags with a cause (a social cause in breaking the socio-cultural barriers preventing the marginalized access to education and employment opportunities). It is my passion to help empower women all over the world, so if I come across an opportunity to join these two together I will!
Thank you so much for being here. I look forward to your support and sharing more with you about this project! In the meantime, I would be honoured if you shared this with everyone you’re connected with!
I would also love to connect with you. You can find me here:
Thank you!
xx Liz

For so long stillbirth, miscarriage and loss of a child have been taboo topics. No one wants to openly talk about it, and so mothers suffer alone and often in silence. Breaking the stigma starts with us holding mums in their grief and allowing them the time they need, to openly speak about their children and share their stories. As well as reminding her that she is still a mum even though her baby is not in her arms right now.
Angel Mamma Care packages are here to give a bit of comfort to a mother in this time when so many things will not help or change the situation, but with a bit of love and care, she will know we are thinking of her. Family members and friends will have a way to show they care and want to be there even if they don’t know exactly what to say. It allows the conversation to begin so that people are not so afraid or unsure of how to have a more open dialogue about the death of babies, this in turn supports women and families as they grieve.
This project is multi-faceted in that on my website there is a section for people to purchase a box that will be donated to a local hospital of their choosing so that midwives and staff have them on hand if a mother comes in needing this extra care during this tragic time. The other options are to select a variety of products available to purchase for yourself, a family member or a friend, to show them your love and concern for them and want to wrap them in comfort and care.

Stretch Goals
Funded sufficiently to get this project off the ground and making an immediate impact.- $10000.00

This significant additional funding would allow me to follow through with customizing a larger quantity of items for the gift boxes. It would mean I could immediately put together a greater number of boxes to be sent to hospitals around Australia, as well as have the website stocked for customers to purchase for their loved ones. It would also allow me to add more of the personalized items I feel would make a greater impact into these gift boxes.
Most importantly it opens up the opportunity for a dialogue and awareness to the silent struggle that is grieving the loss of a baby, and that with each day still 6 lives in Australia are lost to stillbirth. Breaking the silence starts with acknowledging that people are suffering deeply and asking how we can help, and what needs to change systemically is where change will begin to happen. Each step we take towards supporting women and families, increases awareness and offers an opportunity for positive and lasting change.
