So.. What’s Your Story? Your Business Pitch Guide

Writing a compelling Business Pitch

Powerful storytelling helps you connect and engage people emotionally, ultimately motivating them to support your project. This is YOUR STORY! It is one of the most important things you can do. Spend some time thinking and discovering your best, most impactful narrative. Make it captivating and compelling! And don’t forget your call to action.

Follow the guide to help you capture and write your story.

  • Story Headline: Grab your audience with an impactful headline. When done well, your audience will be curious to learn more about your project and read all your business pitch

  • Elevator Pitch: Short description of your product/service that explains what makes it unique. What difference will it make to your audience’s lives? Make sure it is interesting, memorable and succinct

  • Introduce Yourself: Who are you? What’s your story? Why can you uniquely solve this problem?

  • The Problem (or opportunity): What’s the problem you’re solving? What’s the opportunity you’re leveraging? Why is this a problem/opportunity for your audience? Who are they and what are their key pain points?

  • The Solution: What is the Product or Service? How does it solve their problem and transform their life? What are the benefits, what makes it unique and why does your audience care?

  • The Ask: What are you crowdfunding for? How much money are you raising?

  • Call to Action: How do you want your viewers to support you? (ie Back You, Share with Family & Friends, Make it viral etc)

Remember to:

  1. Be Short, Sharp & Succinct! Not only do you need to be able to explain it in 2-3 minutes, but it also needs to be punchy and easy to understand. If it isn’t, rework it until it does.

  1. Start from Zero: How would you explain it to a stranger? Just because you’ve been around a while or have many followers, there’s bound to be someone who knows nothing about you or your project. Start there.

  1. Captivate with your headline. Instead of headlining with a statement, why not start your business pitch with a question (i.e. What if you can see through walls?). Alternatively, use a subject line (ie.10 ways to use your bra). Whatever the headline, add something unique that drives curiosity and gets people to sit up and take notice.

  1. Why? Why? Why? Don’t simply list what it is and how it solves your audience’s problems, help them understand WHY! WHY does it change their life? WHY do they absolutely need it? And WHY you’re the perfect person to solve it?

  1. Start and End Strong! Start strong to grab your audience’s attention. End strong to keep it memorable and get the action you want.

Successful crowdfunding can be easy when you know what works. Your Business Pitch can make or break your crowdfunding campaign. Remember to sprinkle some of your authentic magic and creativity to create something so amazing that your audience cannot resist but to share it with their family and friends! You got this. Just Be You!
