Australia Overview
Hi! I’m Cas Cooke, the owner of Brisbane health and wellness brand Yogat. I launched Yogat in late 2018 after an autoimmune diagnosis quite literally made me stop and smell the roses.Â
I’ve been on a mission ever since to inspire the wider community to invest in their physical and mental wellbeing. We do this by using art as the vehicle and partner with Australian artists to create limited edition yoga mats and exercise products.Â
Since our inception, we have inspired both novice and expert around the globe to “hit the mat”. While this is a high five-able achievement, we know we can do more.Â
Why?  Because we know that mental health conditions are on the rise globally and is elevated each day by the impact of the pandemic.Â
We also know COVID-19 has attributed to high volumes of job loss, with 870,000 Australians losing their jobs since the pandemic hit, with 66% of businesses reporting a reduction in turnover. The Australian Bureau of Statistics also states that 48% of those in the arts and recreation services are experiencing extreme hardship.
So how do we make a positive impact? We create a movement. We create an affordable and accessible space for those looking to invest in their physical and mental health whilst creating paid job opportunities for those in the arts and fitness industries.Â
Here’s what we’re thinking.Â
A low-cost space of $9.95 per month that includes access to:
- Yoga, meditation and Pilates tutorials – facilitated by Australian instructors
- Creative workshops – facilitated by Australian artists and creatives
- A community of like-minded individuals to connect with
- Discounted health and wellness products and services outside of the appÂ
How will the funding be used?
The funding will support:
- Website development – splash page on the Yogat websiteÂ
- App development and platform fees
- Content creation – paying artists and health instructors to create and contribute content is paramount!Â
- Marketing
Why a monthly fee?
A % of the monthly fee will go towards:
- Ongoing Shopify, app platform fees
- Administration
- MarketingÂ
- Most importantly – continue to pay Australian creatives and health and fitness instructors to contribute contentÂ
How the Hapi app by Yogat will help our community
- Provides affordable health and wellness options that can be done comfortably from home (hello lockdown!), in the park, with friends or even with your favourite work colleagues during lunch!Â
- Used as a therapeutic tool to help with severe stress, anxiety and/or depression.
- Supports and encourages movement – keeping endorphins high and the community active and healthy.
- Provides paid opportunities (and exposure!) for those in the art and recreational services to contribute content.
